Catching larger spirits, the "Z" casting knack.

Everyone can catch the 1 hit wonders, but larger ones are harder.
Here's the trick I've perfected.
After you've drawn and cast your first rune, pull down your rune screen and draw another, but don't lift your finger off till you see the white puff of smoke from your spell impact. Repeat until it's captured. When you get really good you can time it to just before, but this takes practice
Just try not to bite off more than you can chew.
Good luck and happy hunting.

Once you've levelled up a bit you may well come across a Breath of Khaos. These are tough 2000 hp boss spirits. You can try to take it down on your own but it will cost you mana potions, trying to heal yourself and kill it at the same time is really tricky and mostly fatal. I don't even try to take one on my own, but people do.
I prefer to work with team mates, either having a free for all pot luck or taking turns to play medic and warrior.

That's a pretty good tip actually; I figured that one out a week or so ago and started using it. I figure that when I finally get into an actual battle, it'll come in handy.

What Slinki said, except for the second shot I pull down the rune layer and then pre-draw my "Z" by drawing a "7" and leaving my finger on screen to complete the "Z" after my first shot hits.
After that, it gets trickier because your next spell cast may get disrupted when you are almost inevitably hit by the spirit before your next (third) shot. You can either very quickly make your next "Z" right after you see your damage report on your 2nd shot, or you can wait to get hit and for the dust to settle before making your next Z.

You can predraw the entire shape, and then just let your finger up.
I use a spamming method. Select target, and just start casting as fast as you can. The requests inevitably get backlogged, and sometimes they all go through at once, blasting away a larger opponent.

what i do is as soon as i cast, i pull down the screen, then as soon as the spirit gets hit, i draw my next Z

I cast my next spell before my previous spell has hit. Not tried the spamming thing, but I'll give it go. Doubt it'll work as well.
