If you are banished, then yep. Happens every time. You need to stay alive AND in the area in order to qualify for the exp and energy. Kinda crappy in moments like yours

No, when your beacon turns purple (or our beacons go red), that means the spider is feeding off it and it will be ripped down next time the spider sits. It seems to heal the spider.

I think I just got involved in my last spider battle.
I've only been involved in two battles where I lasted to the end and the spider was taken down. I got nothing either time. Most of the time I end up lag-banished. This last time, I spent a lot of time being very strategic, going in and out of view of the spider to avoid being attacked repeatedly, we were making good headway on it, and I get knocked in the head with a crit hit that ended up being an insta-banish even with full HP. I've wasted too much mana on this junk, I'm done with spiders.

yeah the instabanish happened to me 3 spiders in a row in one day. I then gave up spider parties for a week, came back and haven't been hit like it since (about 2 weeks)

Spiders are generally hard to kill for me, they always seem to find me in the big crowed im in, and drain all of my HP. I usually have one or two mana pots with me, so I can get back into the action quickly.
