To anyone who feels the Animator/Architect population is unbalanced...

I've played this game since it first launched and honestly us Animators in California thought the game was imbalanced as well, lots of Architects and not enough Animators. We topped the leaderboards but always lost. Instead of just complaining (and we did our fair share of complaining), we made sure to focus on other (and ultimately more important) aspects of the game. This is a social game after all, so we focused on nurturing new Animators, we helped all our new teammates out and made them want to continue playing. Based off of conversations I had with Cali Architects, this wasn't the case on their side, they had a lot of players who did things on their own, etc. (there were also helpful Architects as well, but I heard that the team play was not as evident). Over time this made us a very organized (e.g. GRoMoD) and very sociable team. We all got new players trying out our team, but over time as Architects began losing players, we not only continued to get new players, but they kept playing because they liked the camaraderie, they liked how we always came in force to help out any Animator in trouble. Over time we began to outnumber Architects.

I don't play as much as I used to, life intrudes, but I always jump on at least once a day, and while I like banishing and battles, I also like the thanks I get from a fellow Animator when I heal them just because, or I drop a piece of helpful advice to a new player. And just like when I decided to stop looking at the leaderboards when we were losing, I continue to focus on the things that have ultimately made the Cali BG and I assume other Animator BG's successful. It's a social game, take care of your teammates, focus on your community of Animators, and the wins will come on their own. Hell even if you lose, you'll meet some great people and perhaps make some new friends, beats winning 9 times out of 10.

Thank you Oct, exactly what I mean. We're playing the game the right way. I have no hard numbers but our "population" feels larger so because we put forth MAJOR efforts to play by way of community and teamwork. Blaming population till you blue in the face won't get you anywhere (ex. the California BG) working hard to make friends out of allies and continuing to help aid and foster newbies upwards WILL.

Nice.

As I understand it, the BG is formed from the first 500 players to log in on a campaign - correct me if I'm wrong here. If this IS so, then the difference between our academies in CA BG is definitely in how we play as a team, not the population.

This is one of the reasons I have been strongly supporting a new faction for balance. It seems to me that there would be more opportunity for alliances AS A NATURAL UNDERDOG RESPONSE against a dominating academy. Common enemy and all that.

Oh yeah, did I mention today how much I love my team?

It's a 1000 player cap per BG.

And, I can tell you, both quality and quantity count. Personally, having a bunch of players racking up 1k a round is probably preferable to a smaller number doing 5-10k, because if one of those energy hogs disappears, it's lights out for their team. I've seen it happen a few times in my BG. We're outnumbered anywhere from 3:1 to 5:1 each round, and when someone takes time off it's tough to win. But, if we have a good 15-20 energy hogs, we win. Note, Louisiana BG is small (less than 150 players/round), but I'm sure one could exptrapolate from the numbers I gave.

Octy comes out with a well-thought treatise on success, and in walks Fejj to aggrandize his team's achievements without offering any analysis or anything that is less than a blanket statement or assumption. It's like a king with a jester. LOL

The only people that really know how many Animators there are versus Architects active in this game are Grey Area, and they're not talking. Without that data, this is all kind of a circle jerk. outside of numbers, I think our two teams are more similar then we realize though and that individual battlegroup wins are more a function of how many active players there are and trusted leadership.

I totally agree with Ainya. When I joined, we were consistently consistently losing (thanks in part to Ainya). After a couple weeks, we won a bit more often. Now our bg is as competitive as I could imagine. The last round was decided by less than 2k. Stick with the game. There are a lot of things you can do to balance the battles. It just takes time to learn the right tactics.

Ooo, name-calling, yay! Yes, I appreciate your criticism followed up by a complete lack of any analysis and more assumptions. You sir are clearly the victor.

We don't suck, we just don't work as teams so much.

And that's how the true hippi... err... Animators roll.

World-wide, that's true. In my BG, it's quite easy to count. I'm sure we could all do the same at the end of each round to get a count. One could easily set up a dummy account that does nothing but log in 5 minutes before an round is over, collect no energy, and take a count.

For counts of players, that is.

While it doesn't give numbers of players, the BG score compilation does a sort-of okay job at showing the balance between the countries. For example, New Zealand probably has 1-2 Animators, while Nebraska probably only has 1-2 Architects.
