The potential frienships that can be made.
Ability to visit almost anywhere in the world for free.
The strategy that some aspects of the game require that make it more than just a mindless energy gather.

Going to places where I've never been. I went to disneyland from home, for example ^_^
And once there was a spider wreaking havoc in my city, and i rounded up 50 mages from around the globe who came (figuratively) and defeated it. good times

1) Definitely the location based aspect of it. The other day someone discovered an island in Dubai which was pretty cool. And I can now say I've sorta been to Disneyland.
2). I like the big huge battles that a team effort to win. Especially when there is a Weaver involved. Meeting people from Around the world is pretty cool.
3) The overall concept of the game is pretty cool too. I wish there were more spells though, it would make the game a lot more interesting if we didn't know what spell our attacker would use.

First off, my favorite thing is Lag. As MrReas puts it;
"Lag is your friend, friend lag and use it to complete missions. You can use lag to help your newly friended enemy mages complete missions by dropping into beacons from the beacon list and sitting there even though you can't move while they banish you, or you can use it to place catchers instead the war chant you meant to draw, everyone needs catchers, they're super rare and hard to find. Remember, we're all in this together, it may seem its Animators vs Architects, but there's a third team out there, The Lags, and they need friends too. Don't let your emotions get in the way of making new friends!"
My second favorite thing is crashing. See, when you crash, it often prevents you from using pots and being banished in battle. If you're about to use your last pot to make a beacon at a battle when all others are down, crashing prevents you from using that pot. Maybe one day it will be one of the 9 you will use to raise your gateway value.
My third favorite thing is the "Friend Bug." Say you want to pm a good friend something. Maybe a funny joke. You go and search for their name and guess what? They don't appear. You then rejoice, because you realize that the joke was extremely stupid. Now, the temptation to pm them goes away!
These are just a few of my favorite things in Shadow Cities

1. Being able to input my opinions and ideas in an active forum, as well as help friends when they need it effectively
2. Being able to make new friends (1200 will not be enough for me soon at the rate of 200 friends every 3 weeks.) and get to know them and possibly meet them, as well as being able to easily share and collaborate on ideas with them.
3. Learning about the folklore behind the game. The origins of Dannan, Inrik, Drioma, and Tiermes. What exactly the spirits originate from. What is their myth about.
I break the rules now
4. The challenge the game provides me to effectively gather large amounts of energy, while doing my schoolwork, being completely active in the forums, and living my own life. The challenge this game gives to my brain to think of all these new ideas.
