I would say there's an exception to that. Me for example, I'm french and live in french overseas, but because on the map my place is closer to Asia, I ended up in Singa BG. I don't participate much in bg chat because they often use asian writing and cultural idioms that I don't get. And I know some people who lost interest in the game because they don't speak english well enough to take part in Singa BG strategy... If a french friend offered to log me on in France BG now and then, I would problably enjoy it a lot. I'm curious about what Stomresearch has to say about it, since they're from Israel and in Spain / Portugal bg. Edited by Sakalav (yesterday 18:42:29)
Stomresearch and Demeo are both in UK bg, (hence us calling it UKish) as far as I know, they dont have a problem with it lol

katebeckett, I think distance harvesting and spoofing would fall into that category.

As pointed out by katebeckett, playing on someone else's account, even to sign them in to a different BG for a round, is against the ToS.

Sakalav has a very interesting concern. I would recommend sending a support ticket to Grey Area and ask that they include the overseas departments of France in the french battle group, where they clearly belong. It's an oversight that should be corrected since they are part of France!

I believe Puerto Rico has the same problem - it's not included with the rest of the US.

My situation is somewhat different, since I grew up (mostly) in the US and the UK battlegroup speaks a similar dialect to mine
[As an aside, since joining the game I've learned a lot of interesting English-isms, such as "taking the piss" (...Shakespeare would be proud).]
If I couldn't communicate in the BG, the game would be a lot less fun for me, and I'd probably quit playing. The remote log-in sounds too sketchy to be a viable long term solution. Besides, if I'm not mistaken you'd need someone to keep on logging you in every round, which would become tedious very fast. There's a potential for abuse there as well, though probably not critical to the overall game balance.
I differentiate this issue from remote harvesting, which in my view (as of yet unrefuted by the Devs in our exchanges) is quite fair now for those without gateways, in order to maintain basic game parity via the buffs.
Since I'm weighing in, I'd also abide by the the ethical alt user guide if I were considering creating another account of some kind.

Well I'm being honest in saying that I've helped my boyfriend once or twice in leveling when he couldn't, none of what I did was to enhance myself. I really don't understand what's so wrong. All I did for him was attack spirits. How's that wrong or cheating?
I do understand the rest of what was said though, but none of that is or will be done. Atleast not for me.

SerottaCSi, I considered reporting, but really we're like 5 in this case now, and since we don't even have gateways, I'm guessing my ticket won't make it to the "things worth looking into" lol.

Fwiw, I don't see anything wrong with it either. The criterion I judged everything by was, "are you getting some benefit you could got have gotten from one account?" I think there's also a common-sense clause here. Does it make sense to make a rule that says that a parent or significant other shouldn't pick up someone's device and play the game a while? Of course not, especially since you would not be playing your own account at the same time.
The bottom line is we care about these issues a lot more than GA does. They have shown no ability to clarify the intent behind ToS or to even say what is and what is not cheating? There have been vague statements that alt farming is against their intent, but it would be relatively easy to fix it. (Make it so that killing any structure from an account that has been logged into your device gives you no energy or exp. Can't stop people on same team from setting up for you, etc, but I'm guessing that would fix 80% of the problem.)
Oh on another note... I ignored Monkkbfr's b.s. for a while but then thought to ask someone to check his medals for me. If you want a laugh, do that. This guy who is clearly a tactical genius (he /did/ read the Art of War and knows about the 9 types of terrain and all..) and has several high-handed posts in this thread telling me and all of us how to think about strategy... his bg must be kicking ass, right? Not so much. Let me quote the great Annihilon: "It's sad when you suck so bad that you cheat and still lose all that time." Sad but funny too.
Issues and discussions like this sucked a lot of the joy out of the game for me at the end. GA could help by clarifying and taking simple steps to combat the worst kinds of abuse, but so far they have not been responsive.
