Expiration dates on dominators.

I've noticed a problem with dominators set up by beginning players and promptly abandoned.
These conquered and abandoned gateways severely limit the ability of my wife and I to conquer and harvest in the intended spirit of the game.
I propose that after dominators are constructed, they need to be either harvested or healed within a certain period of time or they break down and disappear.
I'm not sure what a good length of time might be; that would of course be up to developer judgment. Do they expire after a day? A week? A few hours?
But this would address the problem of inactive players cluttering the playing field while posing no impediment to active harvesting players nor to players who set up remote dominators for a consistent power supply.

just wait for some oj to attack and destroy them. simple as that
or call in an abc and let them in, or get an oj friend near you to take it out

Considering I often go long periods without touching my dominators at points, and I know a lot of players do (since they can't harvest them) I don't think this is a good idea.

I agree. Sometimes I go long periods without harvesting also.
I like the ABC idea though - if they are active they will rebuild, if not, problem solved

I like this idea. While everyone's experience can be very different just because of the nature of this game, it seems like the argument about not "touching" your doms would be a result of poor planning. First, I completely understand that some folks may not live/work/be located near multiple gateways, and not everyone is fortunate enough to harvest all of their doms every day like I am. However, if you're going to put up a dominator, it seems to me to be good strategy to be able to access them one way another, even if nothing more than to defend them. Because ultimately, this game is as much about strategy as it is anything else. Most of us have to tend to each of our doms every day. We harvest (happily!) every 35 minutes. And defense is a part of the game. I wouldn't put up a dom if I didn't have a way to access it, whether it be physical proximity, my own beacon, or someone else's beacon. I would argue that a large part of this game is maintaining what you have, so if you don't use it, you lose it! Faroukh's suggestion about healing is great, because it allows players a way to maintain their doms even if they can't harvest them.

I'm on board with this idea. You could even take it a step further and base the expiration on last login. That way it truly targets "inactive" players.

I think Meridius has it.
If you don't log on for (say) a week, or even two, your doms would disappear or maybe slowly start to lose health over a day or so. I have two doms in my base belonging to low level mages I've never even seen that have both been there for months. I don't really mind, but it clutters things up.
