Version 1.4.1. includes fixes for some of the most common glitches you have reported to us and also expands the amount of Beacons shown on your Beacon List from 50 to 200.
Beacon List shows now maximum amount of 150 powered-on Beacons from your friends, 40 random powered-on Beacons from your Battlegroup and 10 Animator High Command or Architect Battle Control Beacons.
Here are some of the main issues fixed in this version:
- Lag or crash occuring when opening Beacon List
- Bug that caused new players to not see Spirits in some cases
- Crashing when searching for new players in Friend View
- Crash issues occuring in Chat View
- Crashing when logging in while having a weak connection
Note that you may experience lag issues with Beacon List if you play on older versions of the game. Updating to version 1.4.1. is highly recommended! If you have questions or feedback about the update or have any issues you need our help with, contact us here.
Especially if you experience client crashes after updating to version 1.4.1., it would be very valuable to us if you have the time to send us the crash logs from your device. Thank you!

Adding more beacons to the list will help mitigate the issues people are having with it, but it won't eliminate them. Some people have enough friends that they still won't be able to get to where they want to go.
Adding the much requested feature to go to any friend's beacon via their profile page is the silver bullet you're looking for to fix beacon list lag. I'd use the beacon list far less often if I could respond to calls for help without it.
I'll look forward to seeing how the larger list works for me personally, though, since I only have a couple hundred friends in game.

40 random powered-on Beacons from your Battlegroup
Get rid of this. Please get rid of this. There are a couple players in my BG, especially now, players I have talked to the devs about, who I do not want ever to be able to access my beacons and see my locations. But since they're in my BG, I cannot stop them. Normally, I just don't friend players I can't stand, and as long as they don't live in my home state, they can't drop in for a visit. Now, though, now there are 999 others who could find me without any control on my end.
Get rid of the random beacons. It will force new players to actually make friends and discover the chat features, and it will prevent players from feeling cyber-stalked.

I second Gabriel's concerns. Being able to control who sees your beacons is an important means of protecting our privacy. If the random BGs beacons are necessary, at least allow us to "block" people in such a way that they can NEVER see our locations. This is a safety issue!

Thank you for sharing your concern Gabriel! The reason why we show also beacons from your battlegroup is that new players don't have any beacons to start with if we show only beacons from friends. It's only a small portion of players who feel comfortable talking in the chat or asking you as their friend right away when they have just started the game.
This isn't a new feature but has been in the game always. I can see however how this doesn't feel necessary if you have hundreds of friends in the game.

This isn't a new feature but has been in the game always.
I am aware of the fact that this has always been part of the game, and in fact I still remember who were my "freebie" beacons on day one. However, why not remove this feature after a player reaches a certain level, as is currently done with "protected" status? Say level 10? By then, most players have begun to establish their friend networks.
In addition, when battlegroups were drawn upon logical lines, it was relatively simple to recognize that the junior around your beacon must be new, and to begin to guide them accordingly. Now, however, many mages of any level, most of whom you have never met, can and do access your beacon.
I will also reiterate that with troublesome players no longer confined by state lines, I believe it is of utmost importance that there be a "block" feature to protect our physical location from people of concern.

Actually, it's more of a concern with lowbie characters being able to see random beacons. Spies.
