Introducing Regional United States Battlegroups

I will try to keep an open mind going into the next campaign, but Kieri's layout does seem a little more feasible and culturally/geographically intuitive.

Thanks for taking the time Kieri.
If the next campaign goes haywire, I think we should give this arrangement a try.

I really like Kieri's idea (I loved my Cali BG as it was) but I do think that the new regions are at least a step in the right direction. Thanks for listening to players, GA.

most of those regions have so few active players i dont think its as bad as it looks. I mean probably less that 50 active mages out of all of those. if it ends up being more we can always protest for another change, but all ideas require fine-tuning. Just think-it could be nationwide randomness.

I posted something about this a couple days ago. It was: Give us time to recover from this currant craziness, and a proper weeks warning before trying regional out on us.
Obviously, your idea of a proper warning is a day before, because I believe you want this for the next campaign.
Does this post mean we have a week? Or after Monday are we going right into regional with the next campaign is what I would like to know?
Here's the post I'm talking about: http://www.shadowcities.com/forum/topic/2541/?page=1

( I love you too BEAUTIFUL SUSHI)
I am also going to try. There are too many friends out there that will be saddened if we all leave. I shall represent those players from Cali BG that do leave.

Khamos
New Regional US Battlegroups
Two straight question Khamos;
please give straight answers so we don't waste time and energy:
1. Do our opinions as players make any impact in the decisions Grey Area makes?
2. If so, how much weight do our posts and comments carry?

I think regional battlegroups are a much more workable idea than the utterly failed "experiment" we are currently taking part in, but I still think these battlegroups are too big. I have put together my own idea of regions based on regional cultures and battlegroup activity level, as derived from total average energy (thanks to Gabriel's score thread!). I tried to keep each regions’ energy output between three-quarters of a million and 1.25 million energy per campaign (I was not totally successful in this). I have 10 regions, which I think is a good number between the 51 we used to have and the 5 you are using now. I think this map allows for more active gameplay while not becoming overwhelming, even as the game grows. I'm hoping you are still open to fine-tuning the battlegroups so we get to an arrangement that works well for all.
Northeastern BG: Average energy 885,958
Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachutsettes, Rhode Island, and Connecticut
New York BG:
A battle group with more than 1000 players and more than 750,000 average campaign energy does NOT need more players.
North Atlantic BG: Average energy 1,175,411
Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and the District of Colombia
Mid-Atlantic BG: Average Energy 1,197,176
Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas
Southern BG: Average Energy 1,339,818
South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana
Great Lakes BG: Average Energy 2,016,172
Michigan, Ohio, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois
Great Plains BG: Average Energy 1,157,319
North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Wyoming, Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Texas, Iowa,
Southwest BG: Average Energy 831,218
Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Nevada
Northwest BG: 852,929
Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Hawaii, Alaska
California: see above re:New York
This is obviously just my idea, but from my experience with the game I think it would work well.
Thanks,
Kieri

Wow. Now, this makes much sense. I can get behind a well-thought out idea like this. You really did your homework, Kieri.
