And I will simply note that the medal for this campaign is a turkey.

Is that what it is? I couldn't figure it out. A week late for Thanksgiving, though. Quite appropriate, still.

I'd wager that if we'd started out with regional battlegroups, we'd be hearing the same amount of griping about state battlegroups.

Depends on the size of the regions. If we'd started out with this past week's BG's I wouldn't have bothered leveling past 5.

i agree with ffg's response above. one thing that i was afraid of when i started playing was that there would be too many hardcore pros and i wouldn't be able to develop in-game. the smaller bgs really assuaged my fear. as i leveled up and gained experience i was able to help those just starting. having a mega bg like the Northeast will be is incredibly intimidating. i liked being able to be important and keep a 9-5 job, an active real life and be able to interact with others who also didn't play 24/7.

While I can see that argument being valid (and everything I've read/heard has made sense), it's still, IMO, kind of one of those things that you'd have adjusted to whatever you first experienced, and change is hard.

I'm just astounded that GA has not responded to any of this for pages. These are their customers worries and hopes for a better game. Yet they don't acknowledge any of these things. I think they will find they are burning bridges with their most loyal and committed consumers by this lack of communication and implementation of poorly thought out plans.

Awesome, GA still doesn't have shit to say. Not even a PR polished 'piss off you annoying customers...'
Nice...

I sat out most of last week's campaign, due to the size of the BG making it impossible to see enough beacons to be able to respond to most requests for help or alerts to spiders or ghosts. So I sign on today and find out I'm still in a HUGE group (pacific US), that will once again make it impossible for me to enjoy play.

I said it before and I say it again: I WANT MY STATE BATTLEGROUP!!! We had spent months honing relationships and tactics, and now we're thrown to the lions with thousands of players we don't know. New players will not get the mentoring they deserve. Only the hard-core players will receive mana rewards at the end of the round. There are too many mages to develop relationships. I could go on and on as to why this is a bad idea!

Looks like I'm sitting out this week, too. And if you don't go back to the state BG's, well, then, I guess you've lost me as a player. IT'S THE RELATIONSHIPS AND LOCALE-NATURE THAT MADE THIS GAME FUN. You've destroyed that. Brilliant.

LOL! So nothing is really changing. During the last campaign we had about 4-5 BGs and now, with this new and improved structure (based on all the feedback), we have...5 new BGs. And this time, they are not capped at 1,000 players, thereby exacerbating the previous complaints. Ugh!

Perhaps we would understand your motives better if you explained the real reason behind this reshuffling of BGs, such as 1. we are giving out too many mana pots in the US 2. our servers can't handle this many BGs in one area or 3. we have run out of new innovative ideas to change the game so we need to start throwing curve balls. We all know that the rationale was NOT to meet new people, that's BS. I have met people from all over the world via my friends' statuses.

I still believe that smaller BGs (250 or 500 mages) are better to nurture the new players and give them a chance to win every now and again. Currently, the BGs will be dominated by the grinders who put in a lot of work to win each time. It would be very encouraging to a new mage to have a chance to win a round. In the current setup, this will certainly never happen and people will start to lose interest quickly...

I have read every one of these responces and theorys and they all sound realy good. I agree that i want my BG back just like all of you and it seems most of these theorys boil down to GA needs more money. A while back i had an idea of a campaign centered around some chain store like macdonalds kinda like the universitys round. i figured GA could get kinda like an add contract to write the story into the game for a campaign figureing people would go to the store to play and buy things while they play. GA if ur problem is money here is a great solution i bet you could get alot of cash considering ur fan base. i know the fans wouldnt like the round a whole bunch but if we got our BG's back it wouldnt matter that ur advertiseing somthing for a campaign.
