At first, there was no formal term for the magic we are capable of today. It was a sacred, ancient art. The Trained Ones made sure that anyone taught in this craft was to develop a great respect for it. It was not long before the teachings of the Trained Ones had reached the lower levels of society, the commoners and the beggars.

These people saw the ability of energy projection as a blessing, a sliver of fortune given by their great leaders. Inherently, this lower level in society had a respect for this craft which was much more intense than that of the upper classes, who used this art to satisfy one's whims.

The lower classes had to use it to survive, because since the upper classes had started to earn this art they had forced the commoners away to the wilderness. It was out of respect and sympathy that the Trained Ones had travelled to the people of the wilds to teach the sacred art of energy projection. Little did anyone know, doing so inadvertently re-awakened dormant souls of times past.

The four houses of the Elemental Majik'Bei'Rem were awakened, the spirits of these once majestic beasts roaming once again. For they had survived the terraforming of the planet. The art of energy projection had given reason for the four ancient houses to re-awaken for it was an opportunity for the elemental races to once again rule the planet.

Still being sentient beings, they were capable of reason, and they saw the channeling of energy as able to give them physical form. The spirits then became hostile. And the name "magic" was used for the first time. This art of energy projection was called magic due to the spirits of the elemental Majik'Bei'Rem and their vicious hunger for this ability.
