I can't do numbers, I'd pray for an animate catcher spell so I can sort my catchers and remove any doubles.

I've had a few ideas on making Catchers more valuable and useable to players for a while now. Was going to post them but you beat me to the punch with this excellent numerical breakdown.
1. 'Release' a Spirit to let other players kill it at reduced energy gains. Change the harvest button to a release button and make casting the harvest spell on it actually harvest it. Allows players to store spirits for friends to use in missions.
2. Make higher levels of catchers work slightly faster. Especially with the increased chance to catch better spirits, this would make Catchers more valuable for spirit hunters and slightly more valuable as a final-line-of-defense combat structure.
3. Allow a player to choose what color of spirit to target, from Red, Blue, and Green. Again, makes it more useful for spirit hunters. There would also be a 'Random' option that would allow the catcher to have a chance to nab air spirits. Maybe earn this on a Level 2 catcher, and maybe have Level 3 Catchers replace the 'Random' with an 'Air' option, allowing you to catch all the spirits with color options.

Thanks for the compliment, if I may, I had a few worries with yours. For the people who buy pots, they could use a catcher, and just literally buy through ALL their missions with the colors thing. Sure, it may take a little longer to get correct rarity, but not too long for those with the pots

I'll be perfectly honest, I didn't think of the mission usage for the color-selection, but yeah, that would be rather game-breaking, even with the reduced-energy from caught spirits.

My problem is I've disabled my main characters with my desire to see colour in my grey area. I'm loathe to destroy catchers for greed.
My catchers also only deploy for my opposing colour character, if they were enabled. I have tomte's stored away and these blue special edition spirits but if I eat them myself; am I alt farming?
I want to run a zoo.
I don't know what the rules say.

I used a calculator. And, I just picked the starting numbers, but made them to were improving the level would improve the catcher, and the numbers relating to higher levels shows that is exactly what it did.
And Fox, I don't think that would be considered alt farming.
