How nasty is your xchat?

Some of the chats ive seen have gotten a little too descriptive, we just need to tell them to go to pm or something.

It would actually be good if there was a control on chat for parents. the 7 and 9 year olds play just fine. It's a good game for them but they do have to play literally in the room with me so I can be sure they don't get into chat. I don't think there is anything that has a You Must Be 18 or Older to play sign off.

Nasty x-rated? Sometimes but usually suggestive in a way that only experienced adults will get. I concur with Depth about the ratings. Teens are curious and so they get to find out what happens when they break the rules and are exposed to adult environments. It has always been that way and won't stop.
Nasty ugly? There are a few mages that use the game to abuse other folks here. While wrong in every sense, their inappropriate displays show us who they are as people and that eventually leads to osterising. As much as those mages piss me off, I feel sad more than anything - sad that those players have suffered enough abuse in their lives to feel that being abusive us acceptable and sad for all of us who have to live in a world along side such ego-driven destructiveness.

On a personal note:
I suffer PTSD. Others do, or have their own dysfunctions. For me this led to a period when abusive behavior in-game really got under my skin and I slipped into bad behavior. I checked myself and hope that others have a healthy enough perspective to do the same. There are real people on the other side if that glass screen - not just bots and we all deserve to be treated with dignity.
Please keep in mind that we never know who a player really is nor what troubles their life has brought them. Respecting each other with a loving attitude is the only way to break cycles of abuse. That means consideration for each others' sensitivities, be it nasty-ugly or nasty-adult.

My xchat in CA bg was terribly abusive and nasty to me 2 days ago. And a lot of my team, said nothing...just stayed quiet. I pretty much sticking to being under the radar--not entering either chat

Thanks to the wonderful mages in my BG it was formerly quite clean and well. Alas, this is mostly just team chat. As for x-chat, the chat does tend to get quite crude and unacceptable for the younger players to hear. Until recently, this was true. Now, it seems as if my BG has been over-taken by pre-teens who curse and put our BG to shame. Half of the time they tend to yell crude things at each other for no real reason. Thanks to SerottaCSi and the other members of my BG who have been with us for quite a while, it can be controlled in a limited amount; however, some of them don't seem to comply with such regulations. I say that we should all act in a mature mannar as Feral said and teach the younger members of our community to be respectful toward each other. Thank you for listening to my quite off topic rant on the subject!
