Genders

People arent USING it for romance(most aren't), they use it to roleplay/chat with state people/have FUN. They don't like disrespecting friends by calling them he when they are she, or vice versa/etc.

Write he/she if you're not sure about someone's gender when referring to them. If they care, they will tell you. Simple.

I'm not a fan of people having obvious genders in games because there's enough sexism and reverse sexism in life without pulling it into a game where we can escape all of that.

And yeah, it's not a dating site. I hope to meet several people from here who I really like, but it's also possible I'll never meet some people I really like. If you want to chat in a flirtatious way to someone you'll never meet, it really doesn't matter what gender they are anyway.

Quoting for the necessity of the thread, and the fact this statement alone buries the thread, or it should.

I never got to respond to that post, but now I can.

I somewhat do care, not exactly obvious, but available in some way. I myself, HATE it with a passion when I call someone the wrong gender or name. You might not care, but the majority might. (MIGHT) And, sexism is not as common as you think it is in my opinion. I hardly ever see any sexism on the game (when I played) or even on other games which have MANY more players. (And even greater abilities of community) I agree that it isn't a dating site, but it can be a place to meet people, who you may like, who, (with old state BG's) possibly lived near you. I met my girlfriend through this game. I'm happy. But, i disagree with perverted sexual harassing freaks who try and use this to try and get some action. That is 100% completely and purely WRONG. And if you want to chat flirtatiously with someone, you somewhat should make sure of gender, because 1. What if they know your gender, and two like you. It is playing with someone's emotions and is completely wrong.

And to make sure of the gender you use the concrete evidence of what they specify in their profile. I'm not opposed to a gender field but, it's hardly important since people are known by how they represent themselves. This is true in life and even more so in an application with androgynous orbs and conversation via text.

WE already have enough problems with pedophiles knowing WHERE WE LIVE. What more must we cede?

At least graduate from high school before you start telling the adult women with real jobs in this thread that "sexism isn't as common as you think it is".

Ok, first off, I implied that sexism isn't as common in a GAME as she thinks.

And I have mnore experience then most of you, having played multiple, Massive-Multiplayer Online RPG's. Games that had at least 5 times as many as this game. And I usually stuck to 5-10 different ones at a time. I can list you my 10 favotire ones. (I've been playing MMORPG's since I was 8.)

So, I am of very good credibility with that statement.

(Not getting involved in the whole mud-slinging affair)

I think there's a simple solution to this that should please most parties. Simply have it as an option to set the blurb to something similar to this:

"Male Acolyte (Level 4)"
"Female Acolyte (Level 4)"
And for those who choose not to select a gender, simply have it the same as always:
"Awakened (Level 15)"

EDIT: Actually, gender is already listed on the forums if the player picks one. So you could always just check there.
