as we discussed in-game yesterday:
When harvesting a dom you get a message about how many friendly gateways in the area, this appears to have not much to do with cloudview, as i see more friendly gateways in cloudview opposed to the message on harvesting the doms, even when i stand next to said dom.. also my physical view shows a different number of friendly gates opposed to the dom when harvesting.
I have tested harvesting regarding AHCs, it appears an AHC appears ALWAYS when the message says 5 friendly gates (or more of course) with 3 i never get any, and with 4 im not 100% certain, but it seems its a safe number as well.

Dropping a note for you about my messing around with what determines the area of "X gates controlled."
All my messing with it suggests that the x= the number of controlled gates that would be visible from the Dom's CV at it's GPS location

^^^Link for reference^^^
Area control is counted from dominators position, not your mages location. So how many friendly gateways dominator "sees" in its cloud view, determines the area control bonus.

Lakujaas i wrote i also went to cloudview from my doms location, and still i saw more friendly gates opposed to the mention on harvest, and saw less friendly gates on streetlevel

I can only go on what resulted as to MY testing. WEst side of my beacon only three visible gates in CV, East side, 5. Those on the east side were able to recieve the bonus for five, while those on the west recieved a bonus for three. IT cannot be SV, because the dom placement I had prior to this, there was never more than 1-2 gates visible from any of my locations.
It's possible there may be a limit? I find that unlikely, but I have no way of testing that out for myself since I don't live in a densely populated area, and rarely am in or near one, and when I am, it's not for any length of time that would allow testing.
And even your own observations confirm that it can't be based on the gate's GPS coordinates either. Also, take into account it's possible the "area" that this is based on could be smaller than what we're able to see in CV.
As I said in my topic, it's illogical to think that they would have set up some form of "pinging" between the players and gates to determine area-especially with warp adding more complexities-but the dom's themselves, since the players can be in a constant state of motion. And as I did say, one block's difference with my experiment made the difference between doms reading 3 or 4/5. Even with two doms on the same gate, when one was far enough west, it only recieved the bonus for three despite four or five being claimed.
Now, while my conclusion may be wrong about it being based on some form of "what's visible to the dom" in CV, it is DEFINITELY based on the dom's locations, there's no other explanation that can explain why one block's distance determined whether or not a dom got a three, or a four/five gate bonus.
Perhaps different locations handle dom's differently, in an effort to "balance" out downtown areas having more gates than the suburbs and rural areas. Possible, but that would require something to do with gates having some form of coding that recognizes other gates. Which in turn, leads to the possiblity that some gates may only recognize other gates as part of their "area." But again, this doesn't explain why moving my doms a block east made a difference for the "# GWs Controlled." Whatever the case may be, my testing shows that it must have something to do with the dominators themselves.
And after typing all of this I can only wish there was a "preview post" like on GameFAQs. Easier to proof read, so I will likely edit this after posting.

Odd... The 135 HP regen point for lv12 is the only one so far to break the 11 point pattern...

There have been a couple that break the 11 point pattern. Level 9, 45 to 60, level 11, 45 to 60... not many, but the occasional blip. The mana rates are really annoying me, though. They're SO spaced out!
