[Website Feature Request] World Map

I think a world map showing various statistics would be a great feature - particularly if the initial view was part of the front page!
I'm envisaging a world map as the initial view (perhaps showing who is currently winning the current campaign for each country), with the ability to zoom into any given country (or select from a dropdown filter?) to show the country and all of the gateways there.
The map would have different overlays that could be superimposed on it (one at a time, I'm thinking, as combining overlays would need some thought), with each overlay depicting a given statistic.
The overlay would represent the statistic as a colour coded dot, ranging from blue (low) through the spectrum to red (high) - perhaps increasing the diameter as well to represent some other aspect of the displayed statistic?
Statistics I think would be good to view would be:
o No. of Warp tos (shows a gateway's popularity).
o No. of spirits captured.
o No. of mages banished (would show up battle hotspots)
o No. of dominators erected.
o No. of domiators destroyed.
o No. of wards erected.
o No. of wards destroyed.
o Gateways conquered.
o Change of shadowlord.
All of the above should come in 3 varieties: last hour, last 24 hours, this campaign.
Gateways should be clickable, which should then bring up a local map for the gateway (much like the cloud view) and display all statistics for the gateway along with realm owner, and all structures currently there.
Because all gateways would be visible using this feature, battle groups could devise strategies to invade and attach gateways which they may otherwise never have known existed.
This would also allow Devs to put on special campaigns such as a 'capture the flag' type of scenario - placing a particular gateway (one which no-one has come anywhere near close to owning) as the objective to be captured and held until the end of the campaign - and for battle groups to devise a way of acheiving the objective as part of a group.

Just thought of another statistic that may be of use to players signing up for the first time, and that is when viewing a country, it should display the number of mages from each faction in that country that have been active in the last 24 hours and/or last 7 days.
This would give an indication of which side could do with a bit of bolstering up.

Something this extensive would be a lot of work for GA (I think?) but this is exactly what I think of and what my friends think of when I say that SC is a "location based MMO where you capture and control areas around you, gather energy for your team, and participate in global in-game wars"
Needless to say, I like the map idea.
