How many players actually move in physical space?

Like most I tend to stick to where I live and where I work only warping when I need to go help my peeps. Love the fact that you need to move.

i enjoy keeping the app open while i'm driving, but i usually just file what i see away for future use. not safe to cast and drive, you know...
shortly after the game was initially released in the US, my girlfriend and i went out driving and found a couple enemy strongholds, but those players didn't seem to stick with the game very long.

And now the need and usefulness of physical movement has been shot and killed with the new patch 1.1.4.

Sadly, not anymore, our butts have been superglued to our sofas...
The beta-times last winter were great, strolling out walking the dogs freezing your fingers in -30c was in it's own way REALLY rewarding, now it's just a waste of time and effort after the 1.1.4 patch

In 1.1.3 we could only warp to allied structures or players. In order to travel across a city, one would need to call in at least one fried to worm/leapfrog their way across town; the more people one had with them, the faster the process went. Now we're able to warp using enemy gateways as well. This means that players in high density areas - where gateways sometimes seem like they're a dime a dozen - a single player can travel across the entire city on their own to attack the enemy, and then the enemy can do the same.
It eliminates not only the need to move in real life (which, if we're honest with ourselves, was always minimal to begin with), but also the need for many to even call in allied players. I'll admit that it can be a useful little feature in low activity areas such as my own, where worming across town to the enemy can take a good while. But in high activity areas, where gateways are so close together you can see two of them (and sometimes more) from any other one, it seems more than a little bit ridiculous.
If you ask me, if it's going to remain a feature of the game (rather than being a temporary adjustment for the sake of a campaign), it should require mana usage or similar so that it can't be over-exploited. Or possibly eliminate or spread out some of the gateways in high density areas, so that travelling between them still requires a certain modicum of player cooperation through worming.

That may be so, but in less populated areas you still need to move around physically. Not everyone is playing this game in a densely populated area. I am in upstate NY and I cannot do anything here because the gateways are so far flung, even in my city. In order to conquer the local area, I am required to physically move. (Which I don't mind at all!)

For a lot of the day I generally hop from bcn to bcn to get around. But whenever I am out and about I certainly log-in and check to see what is happening in the area. I certainly have changed my routine by a few blocks just to ensure that I get the chance to "visit" with a neighboring Architect...
