SC won't accept my Guide's name

Any name i try it says invalid name. When i enter the name of the mage whom i would like to be my guide it says that i cant guide myself. I typed in the name right and I've never used his account and my name looks nothing like his. Plz help

I just became a Guide last night, so you may be right as of then. I upgraded to 1.1.4 on the day it was released and was lvl 7 then. Been trying to name Guide(s) ever since.
Still, if there's a lvl cap on being a follower, then perhaps the Devs should add a note about that in the mission? That would explain a lot.

Level 9 is the turning point, but there's been mention by the devs that those who missed out MAY be able to get the "Unproven" sigil in the future.

XantheXIII- You are level 9, and have reached a level beyond which you can have an official guide. If you have questions or need help, look to your upper level friends. Or you can PM me with questions if you like.

I have had no less than three players come to me with the same issue, having spelled my name correctly, and also none of the above situations applying.all have stated they were unable to use my name or anyone else's. meanwhile other mages have been able to add me successfully. one player was eventually successful after a couple days. two most recently, zgeorge11 and BrownNote are still unable, after both updates and reinstalls for days now. being unable to complete this mission is discouraging to them. please help.

i finnaly did get a guide and that was recent i was lvl 10 when it happend so it doesn't stop at nine
