Offline proximity sensor

So saw an old episode of Bones that inspired this idea and to be honest not sure if it's doable. The one with the dating app on smartphones. As you approach each other the phones detect each other and send a pic of the person with yes or no.
This would be awesome for SC! Standing in line at the coffee shop and you get an alert that someone close to you wants to battle. Log in and tear into each other. Then look over and realize it was the guy behind you in line. Neither have the game running when they enter the shop but the sensor allows for a quick one time battle.
Thoughts?

that would be cool. i think it should be able to turn it off tho just in case people don't want there location to be known. but if u turn it off u cant see if any other mage approches and they cant see u

The AR thing would be really cool. Imagine if you could go into a camera mode where you're looking through your iphone and you see a giant dominator, beacon, or ward in your sights and you could cast your attack on it to take it out... or if you're looking through your phone and see an enemy mage. you two could have a cat and mouse duel because it wouldn't be a top down view. you'd have to find a way to flank your enemy and attack them when they're in your signts. warping would have to be disabled for this though as you can't warp in real life. i guess you could have your mage warp and then run to the spot that your mage warped to

If the game could be like #2 on the List, I would play this game forever because of how cool it would become. imagine the battles and questing would become a lot more fun.

I thought about AR but range/visibility balanced with what's viewable from cloudview seems to be the problem. For example. Beacons aren't viewable from cv. AR a beacon should be the most noticeable in theory. I giant cylinder sticking straight up into the sky. Regardless of buildings etc it would still be visible to the naked eye/camera. I agree AR has huuuge potential in this game. My gateway is a block away I'd love to go out on my balcony and survey my SC area with my camera. Thought I'd start with a smaller idea though. I liked the idea of holding my camera up and watching people walk down the street. Animators would have a little tree abovebthem. The architects....dunno whatever y'all are into I guess hehe.
Was more to promote pvp while out in the real world though. Agree turning off feature would be needed for those with privacy concerns. Just thought it would be neat and possibly allow for more real world interaction between players.

An even cooler thing, though i know this wouldn't happen in a long time, or ever due to safety conditions is a set of AR glasses that would blend our two worlds together when connected w/ the ipod. you would be able to see beacons, dominators, wards, enemies, etc. The safety issue is if there's something in the middle of the street someone might try to walk up to it, or dueling mages would be running around trying to dodge each other and get run over.

Conceptually, I like this. All the more so if some sort of duel mechanic could be set up. {I like the notion of ambushing some unsuspecting archie-bastard, sue me}, but as I am one of those poor sods limited by the need of access to wifi, I can't see that this particular innovation would help me much.
Yes, I'm greedy, I know, but there are a lot of us in this boat and I'm not a huge fan of the "hey, look at all this cool stuff we're giving to people who AREN'T YOU" mechanics that seem so popular these days.
